On Labor Day: Celebrating Those Building the Future of a Regenerative Latin America

May 1, 2025 | entrepreneurship

Every May 1st we commemorate International Labor Day, a date to recognize the value of work in all its forms and the fundamental role that workers play in the development of societies.

At IMPAQTO, we want to use this day not only to honor that legacy but also to highlight and celebrate those who are redefining work in Latin America today: entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurship as a driver of transformation

In a diverse, resilient, and creative continent like Latin America, entrepreneurship is not just a way to generate income: it is an act of courage, an exercise in leadership, and a powerful tool to transform realities.

From the Ecuadorian Andes to the coastal cities of the Caribbean, thousands of people every day strive to create businesses with purpose. They face structural challenges such as informality, limited access to financing, or inequality of opportunity. Yet they do so with a clear vision: to build a more just, sustainable, and regenerative future for their communities.

For many, especially young people, women, migrants, and rural inhabitants, entrepreneurship has been a courageous response to complex economic contexts. But it has also been a way to generate positive impact: producing more consciously, caring for the territory, preserving ancestral knowledge, creating dignified jobs, and fostering climate resilience.

In this sense, entrepreneurship ceases to be just an individual path and becomes a collective act of transformation—an act that deserves to be celebrated on Labor Day.

What does a regenerative region mean?

At IMPAQTO, we believe Latin America has the potential to become a regenerative region: a region where economic solutions not only avoid harming the environment but restore it; where growth is linked to collective well-being; and where innovation aligns with natural cycles and the real needs of people.

To achieve this, we strongly support those already walking this path: businesses generating social, environmental, or economic impact. We work to ensure that entrepreneurship with purpose is not a solitary journey. Through training programs, impact investment, collaborative spaces, and support networks, we accompany hundreds of entrepreneurs across Ecuador and Latin America.

We aim to provide them with the tools, connections, and confidence to scale their ideas and multiply their impact. Because we know that by strengthening their work, we are planting the seeds of a new economy: more human, more equitable, and more regenerative.

Today we celebrate their effort

This Labor Day, we celebrate all those who, through their entrepreneurship, are building a more hopeful present and a more sustainable future. We celebrate their effort, creativity, commitment, and passion.

And we reaffirm our commitment to continue supporting them on this journey, so that more people can live from work with purpose, and so that Latin America can flourish as a regenerative region.
